I grew up walking to school down pine hill to classical high school.

In spring the trees would flower prolifically. They were fragrant. It made the walk very memorable forever. Now I know these trees are flowering pears and they seem to be so tough! I’m so grateful for them!

150 year old sugar maples at Goldfish Pond

150 year old sugar maples at Goldfish Pond

I was thrilled to find 1898 historic photos of these three sugar maples (Acer saccharum) at Goldfish Pond, and then go visit the Pond this winter to take a 2025 matching photo. It's special to me to see trees cared for properly so that they can live and provide so many benefits to multiple generations of Lynners.

The first tree that i ever climbed was a Norway spruce (Picea abies). That is one of the reasons I fell in love with arboriculture.

This is also one of the things that lead me to my internship with the Urban Forestry Fellow.
